The Sichuan Provincial University Key Laboratory of Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Information Processing was established in March 2009 with the joint investment of the Education Department of Sichuan Province and Chengdu University, focusing on the basic theory and application of digital image processing and pattern recognition and the research of intelligent information processing technology. There are 39 researchers in the laboratory, including 10 professors and 27 doctors. Professor Miao Fang, Director of the laboratory, is an expert entitled to the special government allowance of the State Council and one of the one hundred academic and management leaders of informatization in China. Up to now, the laboratory has undertaken and obtained the following scientific research achievements in 62 projects of various types, including 26 vertical scientific research projects (including 2 projects under the National Natural Science Foundation of China and 2 national key special sub-projects), 36 horizontal projects, receiving more than RMB 10 million of scientific research funds. Researchers of the laboratory have published more than 200 research papers in academic journals and international conferences at all levels at home and abroad, including 65 in SCI and EI journals, and have applied for more than 40 patents.
