Brief Introduction

The School of Tourism and Culture Industry of Chengdu University, founded in 1994, is one of the earliest universities in Sichuan Province to offer a tourism management specialty. There are three undergraduate specialties, namely, Tourism Management, Cultural Industry Management, and Exhibition Economy and Management. Among them, Tourism Management is a characteristic specialty at the provincial, municipal, and university levels, which was selected as the national first-class undergraduate major construction point and began to enroll academic masters in 2019. With distinctive school running characteristics, the School has formed the "one-three-five-five" talent training mode with the cultivation of creative talents as the core. It also has the Sichuan Creative Tourism Management Teaching Team and Sichuan Creative Tourism Talent Training Innovation Base.

Adhering to the purpose of focusing on Chengdu, serving Chengdu and contributing to Chengdu, the School cooperates closely with relevant national ministries and commissions, relevant bureaus and committees of Sichuan Province and Chengdu City, builds a series of collaborative innovation research platforms, including China Exhibition City Competitiveness Big Data Research Center, Chengdu Research Center of China Convention/Exhibition/Event Society, Sichuan Plateau Tibetan Tourism Poverty Alleviation Center, Chengdu Convention & Exhibition Economy Development Research Institute, Chengdu Tourism Research Institute, Chengdu Tourism Talent Training Center, Chengdu Tourism Industry Promotion Center, and Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Education Department of Sichuan Province - Sichuan Landscape and Recreation Research Center, and constructs a long-term mechanism for the government-industry-university-research integration.

The School has excellent experimental training conditions, focusing on training the professional skills and practical ability of students. The School has a tourism planning and design center with a laboratory area of more than 700 square meters.

The School's scientific research ability and ability to serve the local economic construction have been continuously enhanced, and the scientific research achievements have been steadily improved. In recent years, the School has undertaken nearly 100 projects, including projects of the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC) and provincial and ministerial projects and obtained nearly RMB 12 million of scientific research funds. Teachers of the School have published nearly 200 papers, including nearly 80 papers on SSCI, CSSCI, EI, and PKU, and more than 20 monographs and textbooks. Students of the School have published more than 20 scientific papers and won more than 80 awards in innovation training programs and discipline competitions at the national and other levels.

The School has carried out extensive international cooperation and has conducted long-term academic exchanges and joint student training programs with well-known universities and research institutions in the United States, Germany, Thailand, and other countries.
