Yang Xi, Associate Professor, an overseas PhD student. Ms Yang obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Sichuan Foreign Studies University, with TEM-8. She obtained her Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature from the School of Foreign Languages, Sichuan University. Ms Yang is now doing her PhD in Education abroad.

Teaching/working experience:

Jul 2003-Sep 2009: Taught English Listening, Spoken English, Intensive Reading at the College of Teachers, Chengdu University.  

Sep 2009-Mar 2013: Taught English Reading, IELTS Reading, College English, Anglo-American Literature at the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Chengdu University.

April 2013-Jul 2016: Worked as a teacher of Intermediate Chinese, advanced Chinese and Spoken Chinese courses at the Confucius Institute of New Hampshire University, US.

Jul 2016Nov 2019: Taught English Reading, IELTS Reading, College English, Anglo-American Literature at the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Chengdu University.

Nov 2019-Feb 2021: Worked as Director of English Teaching and Research Office at the College of Overseas Education, Chengdu University.

From Jan 2021 onwards, she has been working as the Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Chengdu University.

Awards:

1. In April 2010, Ms Yang won the first prize in the Comprehensive Group of the first College English Teaching Competition of Chengdu University.

2. In May 2010, she won the second prize of College English Teaching Competition of the first National "Foreign Language Teachers Cup" in Sichuan Province.

3. In April 2016, under Ms Yang’s guidance, her students at the Confucius Institute of New Hampshire University won the third prize of the junior group in the sixth Chinese Bridge Speech Competition for College students in New England.

4. In July 2019, she won the honorary certificate of government-sponsored teachers who have studied abroad.

Research achievements:

I. Research projects (participated in 1 national social science fund project, led 4 provincial and departmental projects, and completed 4 projects)

1. "Analysis on the Influencing Factors of the Vitality and Endangerment of the Qiang Traditional Music and the Countermeasures for the Protection and Inheritance", National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC) (16XMZ054), with Ms Yang as the fourth ranked researcher, in progress, from July 2016 to now;

2. "The Study of Western Contemporary Feminist Dystopian Novels", Sichuan Foreign language and Literature Research Centre (Project Number: SCWY16-01),with Ms Yang as the Project Leader, completed, from July 2016 to March 2017;

3. "Research on the Strategy of International Education Cooperation between Sichuan and Southeast Asian Countries within the Strategic Context of 'One Belt and One Road Initiative'", Sichuan Education Development Research Centre (CJF17065), with Ms Yang as the Project Leader, completed, from July 2017 to December 2019;

4. "Comparative Study on the Development of Ice and Snow Tourism Leisure Sports Industry in China and the United States", Sichuan Leisure Sports Industry Development Research Centre (XXTYCY2016D09), with Ms Yang Xi as the Project Leader, completed, from May 2016 to April 2017;
