Consul General of Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu and the Accompanying Delegation Visit CDU

On the morning of September 4, Sake Nopthaisong, the Consul General of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu, along with a delegation from the Sirindhorn Thai Language Center at Chulalongkorn University, visited Chengdu University (CDU). Party Secretary of CPC Liu Qiang welcomed the guests at the A1002 Reception Hall of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts. The two parties engaged in friendly discussions about enhancing educational cooperation and fostering people-to-people exchanges between CDU and higher education institutions in Thailand. Peng Xiaolin, Vice President of CDU, accompanied the guests.

Liu Qiang warmly welcomed Consul General Sake Nopthaisong and provided an overview of CDU, with a particular focus on its cooperation and exchanges with Thailand. Liu Qiang stated that CDU places significant emphasis on its collaboration with Thailand. Currently, the university has established friendly cooperative relationships with 41 higher education institutions in Thailand and engaged in multi-level, diverse, and wide-ranging exchanges and collaborations. Thai students account for 20% of its total international student body. Liu Qiang pointed out that strengthening educational cooperation and people-to-people exchanges can foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of each other's cultures among teachers and students from both countries. This effort lays a solid foundation for the long-term stable development of bilateral relations. The visit of the Consul General has further strengthened the friendship between both parties and infused new energy into the internationalization process of CDU. The university remains committed to fostering educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Thailand, promoting cultural integration and coexistence and collaboratively writing a new chapter of cooperation and development.

 

Sake Nopthaisong mentioned that this was his first visit to CDU since assuming office. He sincerely thanked the university for its warm and friendly reception. He highlighted that the strong political foundation and deep-rooted friendship between the two countries have greatly facilitated exchanges and collaboration in the areas of education and culture. The partnership and interactions between CDU and universities in Thailand have yielded fruitful results. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chengdu will be committed to fostering more favorable conditions for enhanced cooperation between CDU and universities in Thailand. It is anticipated that both parties will strengthen connectivity and engage in deeper collaboration and exchanges in areas such as teaching and scientific research, talent development, and cultural interactions.

After the meeting, the guests visited the Chengdu University Alumni Association and the Sichuan Provincial Research Institute of Thai Studies.

Relevant heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the College of Foreign Languages and Cultures attended the meeting.
