On the evening of May 29, the "Winland Summer Concert" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Austria was held at Beijing's Winland International Financial Center. Austrian Ambassador to China Dr. Friedrich Stift and Vice Foreign Minister Ma Chaoxu attended the concert and delivered speeches. In addition, more than 400 ambassadors to China from Austria, Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy and other countries, leaders, guests and representatives from all walks of life gathered together to celebrate the event.  Patrick Lechner and Tymur Melnyk, two foreign experts of the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, were invited to perform at the concert.

"May 28 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Austria and China, in which culture exchange has played an important role. Early in 1973, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra already performed Mozart and Beethoven's symphonies in Beijing and Shanghai, and that was a gift from Austria to China. The New Year's concert held at Vienna's Golden Hall on January 1 every year attracts countless Chinese audiences," said Friedrich Stift in his speech, adding that "I am delighted that tonight you will have such an opportunity to appreciate the concert about the music of Franz Schubert in Winland International Financial Center."

Ma Zhaoxu said that the relationship between China and Austria is like a symphony, and culture exchange has become an important part of it. The China-Austria diplomatic relations were formally established on May 28, 50 years ago and this year is their 50th anniversary, which is not only a milestone but also a new starting point. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Austria, congratulatory messages were exchanged between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, and between Premier Li Keqiang and Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz. The leaders of the two countries agreed to take the 50th anniversary as an opportunity to push forward the friendly strategic partnership between China and Austria and expressed their sincere gratitude to people from all walks of life who made outstanding contributions to the development of China-Austria friendly relations for so long. They wished everyone a wonderful evening of music.

Tymur Melnyk is an Austrian violin specialist at the College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, who once won the "Fritz Kreisler" Award, and Patrick Lechner is a piano specialist at the same college who once won the "Jinsha Friendship Award" and the International Steinway Award. The two were invited to participate in the concert as guest performers and add more colors to the night of Schubert's music. The concert culminated in the beautiful melody of the song "I Love You China" performed by Chinese and foreign artists. This show expresses a wish that music is borderless and the friendship between China and Austria will last forever.
