Distinguished Researcher Ma Wenbo Again Ranks Among RSC's Top 1% of Highly Cited Chinese Authors

In order to highlight the outstanding contribution of Chinese researchers to international chemical research, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) made statistics on the citations of papers published in over 40 RSC journals, screened papers published in 2017 and 2018 which ranked among the top 1% of highly cited papers worldwide in 2019, and listed the corresponding authors from Chinese universities and research institutes. Ma Wenbo, a distinguished researcher at the School of Pharmacy and Sichuan Industrial Institute of Antibiotics, was selected as one of the top 1% of highly cited Chinese authors in organic and medicinal chemistry journals in 2019. This is the second time that Dr. Ma has ranked among RSC's top 1% of highly cited Chinese authors, and the first time was in 2018.

Ma Wenbo, distinguished researcher, master supervisor. In July 2011, he graduated from West China School of Pharmacy, Sichuan University with a Master of Science degree in Medicinal Chemistry. In September 2011, he went to the Institute of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry (IOBC), University of Göttingen, Germany to study for his doctorate. under the support of the China Scholarship Council (CSC), and obtained his doctorate in Natural Science in May 2015. Currently, Dr. Ma is mainly engaged in the transition-metal-catalyzed synthesis of biologically active heterocycles and structural modification of drugs. By exploring new reagents and ligands, he constructs a new catalytic methodology system to realize efficient green synthesis and structural modification of drugs. At present, he has published nearly 30 papers in SCI and other internationally renowned journals, with a total of over 900 citations, among which 4 papers are selected as highly cited papers, 1 is highlighted in Synfacts, and 2 are cover papers. He has presided over one project under the Youth Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, one general project of the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province and two other bureau-level projects, and participated as the principal researcher in two international science and technology cooperation and exchange projects of the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province.
