In 2021, with the approval of the Chinese Ministry of Education, Chengdu University and the University of Stirling in the United Kingdom jointly established Stirling College,Chengdu University. a Chinese-foreign cooperative educational institution with non-independent legal person status. The college is located in Chengdu at the main campus of Chengdu University.
Chengdu University was officially established with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 1978, but its school-running history dates back 100 years. It is an undergraduate institution co-constructed by Sichuan Province and Chengdu City, and is a key comprehensive university in Chengdu, a national central city. It proudly hosted the Athletes’ Village for the 31st FISU Summer World University Games in 2021. The university also has a Grade III Class A affiliated hospital with a century-long history and a national antibiotic R&D base, the Sichuan Industrial Institute of Antibiotics. The University of Stirling is a world-renowned comprehensive university, recognized as Scotland's University for Sporting Excellence and ranked within the top 500 universities in the world in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020.
Stirling College,Chengdu University takes "public health" as the primary orientation and focuses on serving the complete health and sport industry chain. It creatively forges a disciplinary cluster marked by crossover integration of new engineering and liberal arts disciplines and guided by the health and sport industry. The majors offered represent a deep reconstruction of Chinese and British curriculum systems and distinctive characteristics of international education. The college selects competitive majors from the Chinese and British universities and offers three undergraduate majors: "Leisure Sports," "Data Science and Big Data Technology," and "Network and New Media." Courses from the British side are taught by teachers from the University of Stirling. The college adopts a "4+0" training model, with all four years of undergraduate education taking place at Chengdu University. Students also have the voluntary option to participate in short-term exchanges at the University of Stirling during their studies. Upon completing the prescribed courses, students will receive an undergraduate diploma and a bachelor's degree from Chengdu University, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Stirling. After graduation, students can choose to continue their studies at the University of Stirling in the UK or apply to pursue a master's degree at other prestigious overseas universities.
