History of the School of Computer Science of Chengdu University: Originating from the automation major of the Department of Wireless Studies in 1978, and merged with the School of Information and Electrical Engineering at the end of 2015 to form the School of Information Science and Engineering, the School of Computer Science (School of H3C IT) was established in June 2020,.
The School now has 100 teachers, including 11 professors, 34 associate professors and 33 doctors. There are 1,945 undergraduates and 17 postgraduates. There is one candidate for academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province, one highly cited author of ESI in 2018, one expert with outstanding contributions in Sichuan Province, two doctoral supervisors, 12 master supervisors, one national excellent innovation and entrepreneurship supervisor, one "Teacher's Morality Model" in Chengdu, one online "Smart Teaching Star" of Ministry of Education, and three most popular teachers among students of Chengdu University.
The School has five undergraduate majors: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, Network Engineering and Data Science, and Big Data Technology. It is committed to cultivating applied engineering and technical talents with a solid professional foundation, strong technical ability and excellent comprehensive quality. Computer Science and Technology is a national featured specialty, and Software Engineering has been selected into Sichuan and China's excellent talent training programs. In 2019, Computer Science and Technology major and Software Engineering major were approved as the first-class specialty construction sites in Sichuan Province.
The School now has three departments, two divisions and one center, namely, the Software Engineering Department, the Computer Engineering and Application Department, the Data Science Department, the Mathematics Foundation Division, the Computer Foundation Division, and the Experimental Technology Center. The School has the Sichuan Provincial University Key Laboratory of Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Information Processing and Sichuan Computer Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. It has established the Big Data Research and Application Research Institute, Network Intelligent Information Technology Research Institute, Internet of Things Technology and Application Research Institute, Cloud Computing Information Security Research Institute, Business Intelligence Application Research Institute and Mathematical Inequality and Application Research Institute.
The School vigorously cooperates with enterprises by jointly establishing the School of H3C IT of Chengdu University with H3C Group under Tsinghua Unigroup, and "Chenglong Valley Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center" with Longquanyi District Government, facing the needs of industries, actively serving the development of local industries, and cultivating engineering and technical talents for city leading industries.
The School actively expands its in-depth cooperation with overseas universities in the fields of personnel training and scientific research, and has carried out international programs for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in software engineering, computer science and technology with Korea and Germany, and joint undergraduate training programs with the United States, Thailand, Denmark and other countries.
The School aims to train students to be "good people with good skills and good at development", and implements the senior tutor system. With the implementation of the 341 Program, which leads students to develop in an all-round way and improve their quality through scientific and technological innovation, the employment rate of graduates has remained above 92%, the number of students joining China Mobile, Baidu, IBM, Tencent, Alibaba and other well-known enterprises has increased year by year, and their salary level ranks among the best in all majors of the university.
