Delegation Led by NSTRU’s Member of the Board of Trustees and President Visits and Signs MoU with CDU

On the morning of December 29, a Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University (NSTRU) delegation visited Chengdu University (CDU). The delegation was led by Wichai Vanpetch, Member of NSTRU’s Board of Trustees, Sompong Raksatham, the President, and Weratyuth Chatakarn, the Vice President. Peng Xiaolin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of CDU, met with the delegation. The two sides had discussions on international student cultivation, scientific research cooperation, and exchanges of faculty and students and shared insights on deepening and broadening their cooperation comprehensively.

Peng Xiaolin warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced CDU’s history, vision, educational philosophy, and internationalization strategy. She said that as a city university covering ten disciplines, CDU is a project unit of the Ministry of Education’s “Double Ten Thousand Plan” for the construction of first-class undergraduate courses. In recent years, CDU has made remarkable progress in terms of international prestigous rankings in its overall and subject rankings, making it one of the fastest-growing universities in China. She said that Thailand is an important cooperation country of CDU, and CDU highly values the exchanges and cooperation with Thailand. It is hoped that CDU and NSTRU could deepen their practical cooperation in 2+2 undergraduate double-degree programs, scientific research, cultural exchanges, etc.

Sompong Raksatham expressed his gratitude to CDU for its warm reception and introduced the historical background and discipline development of NSTRU. He said that NSTRU is a comprehensive university with a history of more than 50 years, with various disciplines such as management, law, medicine, literature, engineering, etc. It is a degree-awarding institution for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctor’s programs. It is also a higher education institution with a relatively high level and a more complete range of disciplines in Thailand. It is hoped that NSTRU and CDU could carry out in-depth cooperation and exchanges in teaching and scientific research, talent cultivation, cultural exchanges, and joint establishment of overseas Chinese learning centers.

The two universities signed the Memorandum of Understanding between Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University in Thailand and Chengdu University in China. According to the MoU, the two universities will officially launch comprehensive cooperation in scientific research, academics, and the international mobility of teachers and students.

The delegation was accompanied by the Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Head of the International Strategy and Relations Department of NSTRU. Heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, College of Literature and Journalism, and Thailand Exchange Center of CDU attended the meeting.
